  1. Hey.  I’m setting up a directory of only locally owned and locally grown restaurants in Memphis.  It’s called BluesFoods.com.  I’d love for you to sign up.  A basic listing is completely free.  Check it out and let me know if you have any questions, comments, or suggestions!

    Thanks!

Hello. I was walking my dog today and was pleased to see a new sign in a window that has been empty for a while.
I am a local chef with 12 years of vegan and non-vegan cooking experience. This is the kind of cafe I have been waiting to open in midtown and in Memphis, in general. This is a great time for it.
I was hoping to apply. I can drop off a resume or email you one. I am very interested. I worked for the original Memphis natural food store Squash Blossom for four years, Wild Oats for four years, and Square Foods for 5 or so.

      Hi Christopher!

Thanks so much for the email!!! Wow, what experience!!

We are so excited about this adventure!! This is mine and my husbands first go around at owning a restaurant so we don’t know exactly what to expect. We have a bunch of family members working and helping our at the moment, so we did not include a budget for actually hiring any employees for a few months. We wanted to see how the business was going to run before we hired anyone full-time. I really appreciate your interest and will DEFINITELY keep your information for when we start hiring.

      Thanks again so much!!!

First of all, I am so excited about this place! Being a vegan in Memphis has basically meant that I don’t get to go out to eat anymore without ordering everything special or getting just a salad (no eggs, bacon, cheese, or dairy-based dressing, please!).

Secondly… When do you open??? Or are you already open? I cannot find this information anywhere. Thanks!

    • kristie says:

Thanks so much Leah for your comment!! We are so excited about this adventure. This is mine and my husbands first time at this so its going to be a fun learning experience. We are really hoping to open sometime this week, maybe this weekend, but everything is holding on inspections. As soon as they say everything is ok, we will open the doors!!! Hope to see you soon!!

    • kristie says:

No, I am sorry but we are still holding on inspections. You can’t rush them. As soon as they say we can open, we will. We are really hoping for this weekend!!! Thanks for the question!

  5. Denise says:

Thank you, I am so excited to hear this.

    • kristie says:

      Hi Denise,

I am sorry but we are still not quite open yet. We are still waiting on one more inspection. We hope very, very soon though!! Thank you for your patience!

I’m excited to try the restaurant! I’m trying to figure out when you guys are open. You really should add your hours of operation and a phone number to thus website somewhere. That would be extremely helpful!

  7. Jill Cirivello says:

I would love to open a vegan restaurant. I wish you success! Your menu and name are wonderful!

  8. Kat says:

Ate dinner tonight at your cafe with the family. Loved the atmosphere!! The chocolate cake was delicious! Would love to see more whole wheat bread options and brown rice.
Thanks for living the vegan life-style and providing a place for us to enjoy!

    • kristie says:

Thanks Kat so much!! The concept of the restaurant was to give people a place to go and get “junkier” food. Not health food for health food sake. Our point to the restaurant is to eat compassionately, health is just an added bonus. There are tons of places around Memphis that provide whole wheats, brown rice, vegetable dishes and such and we are not trying to compete with them. We cook a lot of vegetables and whole wheat products at home, as do many vegans, so we wanted to have a place that was more of a “out of the normal vegan meal”. Glad you enjoyed the cake!! We hope to see you again soon!!!

  9. I will be visiting Memphis in July and would love to eat at your establishment, what hours are you open for business? (Maybe I just missed it on your webpage)

    Thanks, Kathleen

    • kristie says:

      Hey Kathleen,

It is on the website but we will post it again anyway; Monday 11-9, Tuesday- closed, Wednesday 5-9, Thursday 11-9, Friday 11-10, Saturday 12-10 and Sunday 12-3 for brunch. Hope one of these days works for you!! Take care and thanks for the comment!!
